EVERY VALLEY RAISED EVERY MOUNTAIN MADE LOW AND THE FIELD OF PPLAY MADE LEVEL, FOR ALL
Does sameness trump everything? To Conservatives, apparently so, since the other main reason the suit of a few years ago mentioned in last week's post was brought in the first place is from The Conservative Philosophy's idea that making accommodations for People With Disabilities is somehow working against equality while treating everyone exactly the same somehow is equality. The trouble with this line of thinking is that to someone in a wheelchair, for instance, no ramp to enter a building does not feel like equality, and True Equality will feel like Equality to everyone. So, let us have true equality for all abilities throughout this country, by law, since otherwise ramps and other accommodations will not be built or maintained, and end once and for all this foolish idea that treating everyone exactly the same is somehow more equal than making sure that everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed. Success or failure should be up to the individual, which can only happen if there is a level playing field to start from. So let the playing field be level, for all, without exception or objection, and then there will truly be equality in this country.
