LET ALL OF THE BREOKEN SHHINE AGAIN
We hear a lot these days about people who were wounded in the wars in the Middle East and thus sustained a disability being given the opportunity to shine again, either in the paraolympics or in any number of other situations. I do not say that these heroes should not be given a second chance, and I certainly honor, appreciate and thank them for their service and their sacrifice. But, some of us became disabled when we were children or were born with a disability and so military service was never an option for us. Others became disabled as adults but had chosen other paths. I do not begrudge vets with disabilities the opportunity to shine again, but let there be the opportunity for all of "The Broken" to borrow a term from my first short story on this subject all of those many months ago, to shine again.
